Spring Brown Bear Hunting |
|
Grizzlies or brown bears as they are also called, weigh anywhere from 300 to almost 1500 pounds and can stand almost 10 feet tall. Our guides hunt for bears 8 - 9 1/2 feet in size. In spite of their large size, most casual visitors will never see a bear in the wild as they stay concealed in low brush. This is why it's important for hunters to travel with a guide who is accustomed to being on alert. The guide's expertise will help make the best use of the limited time available for your Alaska bear hunting trip. We have a variety of color phases from dark chocolate brown to straw yellow. These bears are classified as grizzly bear by Safari Club International and have a large variety of grizzly characteristics in coloration including silvertips. Grizzlies have a large hump of muscle mass over the bear's shoulders. CLICK HERE for more photos. Grizzlies are omnivorous, devouring everything, and their diet varies by the season. It includes roots & grasses, berries & nuts, insects, rodents, fish and often small and large mammals. Attack against humans are rare but they will defend their young or food if surprised or approached too closely. Grizzlies are extremely powerful and they have an excellent sense of smell & good hearing. Extreme caution should be taken when in bear country. Due to the quality and success of our bear hunts we have many repeat clients who book a year or more in advance. If you're serious about bear hunting in Alaska, don't delay. Book your trip now and be assured of going with an experienced Alaskan registered big game guide with an excellent track record. |
